Indications: Usually men and women over forty years old , but even people in their thirties can improve their appearance by these procedures. Tightening and elevating sagging tissues of face and neck volumetric rejuvenation, with complete restoration of soft tissue is done. Lifting should be done in combination with eyelid surgery, forehead lifting, liposculpture or surface peel by dermabrasion, laser or chemical. The main aim of the procedure is to make face firmer and younger.

Surgical Procedure: There are several variations of face lifts. Only skin faceliftings were popular many years ago and are still used in select situations. Intermediate and deep face lifting achieve complete restoration at deeper level above the bone structure of the face. The incisions are made within the hairline ,just in front of the ear and wrap around the back of the ear. The skin of the face and neck is separated, the excess skin is removed with previous tightening of muscular tissues to achieve long-lasting effect. Liposuction is sometimes needed to be done to remove fatty deposits from jowls and neck in order to define them better.

Duration and Anesthesia: Surgery is done in local anesthesia and intravenous sedation, lasting 2-4 hours depending on the type of surgery and surgeons expertise.

Post surgical Recovery: Dressings and drain are removed in a day or two, and the hair can be washed. Sutures are removed over the period of seven to ten days. There is a temporary feeling of dumbness in facial and neck area. Scars heal gradually, much faster than of the other parts of the body and they are all hidden in hairline, natural lines and behind ears.After endoscopic procedures there are almost no visible scars. Make-up can be worn few days after surgery, but sun exposure is not recommended within few months.

Rare Complications: Swelling and hematomas disappear in a week, possible injury to the facial nerve branches, infection, and hypertrophic scars behind ears and on the neck.
